Egypt and Islamic civilisation: Arabia before Islam, the rise of Islam and the Medina state; the conquests and spread of Islam under the Rightly Guided Caliphs, Umayyads and Abbasids; Egypt from the Islamic conquest to the Mamluks; and the institutions and contributions of Islamic civilisation.
